Alumni Testimonies
I attended Our Lady of the Lake Regional Catholic School from Kindergarten until 5th grade. When my 5th grade year came to an end, I decided I wanted a change and transferred to the public school. It was an immediate regret. I soon discovered that the administrators were not nearly as passionate about education as the teachers at Our Lady. In 7th grade, I switched back to Our Lady. I was terrified; all of my friends stayed at the public school, and I ran the risk of being completely alone. However, I faced my fears and came back in the middle of my 7th grade year. This can only be regarded as the most important decision of my life. I quickly noticed the familiar closeness brought from the intimate class sizes, something nonexistent in the public school. At Our Lady, I felt a sense of belonging which I never felt at the other school. Here, teachers and admin made it their prerogative to ensure that I felt important and encouraged in my scholastic journey. Our Lady of the Lake has set me up for the success I achieved throughout high school, something I know I couldn’t have gotten from another school. It has truly changed my life and shaped me into the knowledge and God seeking student I have become. Faith McNeill-Class of 2022
My name is Abbey Bosel, and I am a proud alumni of Our Lady of the Lake. I began my journey at Our Lady in kindergarten, later transferring to public school until 6th grade, before returning and finishing my middle school years there through 8th grade during COVID. Looking back, returning to Our Lady of the Lake was one of the most impactful decisions in my life. I am forever grateful for the opportunities and experiences this school gave me. Our Lady provided me with so much more than just an education—it gave me a sense of belonging, a strong and supportive community, and a foundation that has shaped who I am today. During my time there, both my faith and my academic growth were stronger than ever. The integration of faith into everyday learning created an environment that encouraged not only intellectual development, but also personal and spiritual growth. I was constantly challenged to do my best while also being reminded of the importance of kindness, compassion, and service to others. What truly makes Our Lady of the Lake special is its community. The teachers, parents, students, and church members all come together to create a place filled with care, love, and encouragement. I always felt supported—not just as a student, but as a person. The teachers went above and beyond, taking the time to understand each student and help them succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. My mentors at Our Lady played a huge role in preparing me for the future. They instilled in me confidence, discipline, and a strong moral foundation. Even during the challenges of COVID, the school remained committed to providing a meaningful and stable learning experience, which made a lasting impression on me. Because of Our Lady of the Lake, I left feeling prepared, confident, and grounded in both my education and my faith. The lessons I learned there continue to guide me in my life today. If it were not for this school, I truly would not be where I am today. I will always carry the values, memories, and relationships I gained at Our Lady of the Lake with me, and I am incredibly proud to call myself an alumni. Class of 2022
I was extremely grateful to be enrolled in a Catholic School throughout elementary and middle school. I am the person I am today because of the foundations that being a part of Our Lady of the Lake built in me since I was a kid. A Catholic school allowed me to grow deeper in my faith and continue my academic growth, no matter my starting point. Personally, I excelled at most subjects, and this was mostly because of the care and attention my peers and I received. If we were behind in anything, we were given the personal attention we needed to get caught up, and if we were ahead, there were options for advanced learning, so there was never any stagnation. We were always learning something, and I believe I am as successful as I am today because of it. As for my faith, the opportunity to have a religion class and mass every Wednesday was a great experience, as it allowed me to get to know God better and grow in my knowledge of the Church’s history. To this day, I carry the lessons I learned at Our Lady with me. Owen Barnes-Class of 2021
